“Etadaggaṁ, bhikkhave, mama sāvakānaṁ bhikkhūnaṁ sikkhākāmānaṁ yadidaṁ rāhulo.

“Bhikkhus, the |foremost::chief, best [agga]| of my bhikkhu disciples among those |desiring to train::wanting to practice [sikkhākāma]| is Rāhula.

Saddhāpabbajitānaṁ yadidaṁ raṭṭhapālo.

Bhikkhus, the foremost of my bhikkhu disciples among those who ordained out of |faith::confidence, conviction, trust [saddha]| is Raṭṭhapāla.

Paṭhamaṁ salākaṁ gaṇhantānaṁ yadidaṁ kuṇḍadhāno.

Bhikkhus, the foremost of my bhikkhu disciples among those who are the first to take meal tickets is Kuṇḍadhāna.

Paṭibhānavantānaṁ yadidaṁ vaṅgīso.

Bhikkhus, the foremost of my bhikkhu disciples among those who are |eloquent::astute, intelligent, quick-witted [paṭibhānavant]| is Vaṅgīsa.

Samantapāsādikānaṁ yadidaṁ upaseno vaṅgantaputto.

Bhikkhus, the foremost of my bhikkhu disciples among those who inspire confidence in every way is Upasena Vaṅgantaputta.

Senāsanapaññāpakānaṁ yadidaṁ dabbo mallaputto.

Bhikkhus, the foremost of my bhikkhu disciples among those who assign dwellings is Dabba Mallaputta.

devatānaṁ piyamanāpānaṁ yadidaṁ pilindavaccho.

Bhikkhus, the foremost of my bhikkhu disciples among those pleasing and agreeable to deities is Piḷindavaccha.

Khippābhiññānaṁ yadidaṁ bāhiyo dārucīriyo.

Bhikkhus, the foremost of my bhikkhu disciples among those with quick realization is Bāhiya of the |Bark Cloth::dressed in bark strips [dārucīriya]|.

Cittakathikānaṁ yadidaṁ kumārakassapo.
