¶ 1“Bhikkhus, the |foremost::chief, best [agga]| of my bhikkhu disciples among those |desiring to train::wanting to practice [sikkhākāma]| is Rāhula.

… Saddhāpabbajitānaṁ yadidaṁ raṭṭhapālo.
¶ 2Bhikkhus, the foremost of my bhikkhu disciples among those who ordained out of |faith::confidence, conviction, trust [saddha]| is Raṭṭhapāla.

… Paṭhamaṁ salākaṁ gaṇhantānaṁ yadidaṁ kuṇḍadhāno.
¶ 3Bhikkhus, the foremost of my bhikkhu disciples among those who are the first to take meal tickets is Kuṇḍadhāna.
