The Buddha teaches on the seven awakening factors regarding breathing, guiding mendicants in cultivating factors that lead to awakening.

SN 46.66 Breathing

“Ānāpānassati, bhikkhave, bhāvitā …pe…” dasamaṁ.

Ānāpānavaggo sattamo.

Tassuddānaṁ

Aṭṭhikapuḷavakaṁ vinīlakaṁ,
Vicchiddakaṁ uddhumātena pañcamaṁ;
Mettā karuṇā muditā,
Upekkhā ānāpānena te dasāti.
