Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:
This was said by the Blessed One, said by the Awakened One, as I have heard:
“Ekadhammo, bhikkhave, loke uppajjamāno uppajjati bahujanahitāya bahujanasukhāya bahuno janassa atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānaṁ. Katamo ekadhammo? Saṅghasāmaggī. Saṅghe kho pana, bhikkhave, samagge na ceva aññamaññaṁ bhaṇḍanāni honti, na ca aññamaññaṁ paribhāsā honti, na ca aññamaññaṁ parikkhepā honti, na ca aññamaññaṁ pariccajanā honti. Tattha appasannā ceva pasīdanti, pasannānañca bhiyyobhāvo hotī”ti.
“One thing arising in the world arises for the benefit of many people, for the happiness of many people, for the welfare, benefit and ease of both gods and humans. What is this one thing? Harmony in the Saṅgha. When the Saṅgha is unified, there are no mutual quarrels, no mutual abuse, no mutual exclusion, and no mutual rejection. In such a situation, those without faith develop faith, and the faith of those who have it increases.”
Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca. Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:
The Blessed One spoke on this matter. In this regard, it is said:
“Sukhā saṅghassa sāmaggī,
samaggānañcanuggaho;
Samaggarato dhammaṭṭho,
yogakkhemā na dhaṁsati;
Saṅghaṁ samaggaṁ katvāna,
kappaṁ saggamhi modatī”ti.
“Happy is harmony in the Saṅgha,
and supporting the unified brings further joy.
One who enjoys unity, firmly established in the Dhamma,
does not fall away from supreme security.
Having unified the Saṅgha,
that one rejoices in heaven for an aeon.”
Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.
This matter too was spoken by the Blessed One, as I have heard.
