The Buddha describes the five powers—faith, conscience, prudence, energy, and wisdom—that support a mendicant on the path.

“Pañcimāni, bhikkhave, balāni. Katamāni pañca? Saddhābalaṁ, hiribalaṁ, ottappabalaṁ, vīriyabalaṁ, paññābalaṁ imāni kho, bhikkhave, pañca balānī”ti.
