The spiky-haired spirit who blocked the Buddha's road with his companion Khara and demanded answers: where do passion, hatred, and discontent come from? From this, the Buddha said, they spring, and here they end (Snp 2.5, SN 10.3). When Moggallāna later saw a needle-haired ghost in torment above Rājagaha, the Buddha confirmed it was Sūciloma (SN 19.8–9).
