Venerable Phaggunaperson

The Buddha teaches on the six sense bases regarding phagguna’s question, guiding disciples toward discernment of sense experience and release from clinging.

Venerable Ānanda asks the Buddha to visit the gravely ill Venerable Phagguna, who dies with bright faculties soon after the Dhamma talk; the Buddha then explains six benefits of hearing the teaching and examining the meaning at the right time, by which a mendicant’s mind is freed from the five lower fetters or with the supreme ending of attachments.
