“Pañcime, bhikkhave, ānisaṁsā yāguyā. Katame pañca? Khuddaṁ paṭihanati, pipāsaṁ paṭivineti, vātaṁ anulometi, vatthiṁ sodheti, āmāvasesaṁ pāceti. Ime kho, bhikkhave, pañca ānisaṁsā yāguyā”ti.

The Buddha describes the five benefits of porridge.

“Mendicants, there are these five benefits of porridge.
Katame pañca?
What five?
Khuddaṁ paṭihanati, pipāsaṁ paṭivineti, vātaṁ anulometi, vatthiṁ sodheti, āmāvasesaṁ pāceti.
It wards off hunger, quenches thirst, settles the wind, cleans the bladder, and helps digestion.
Ime kho, bhikkhave, pañca ānisaṁsā yāguyā”ti.
These are the five benefits of porridge.”
