“Tīṇimāni, bhikkhave, indriyāni. Katamāni tīṇi? Itthindriyaṁ, purisindriyaṁ, jīvitindriyaṁ— imāni kho, bhikkhave, tīṇi indriyānī”ti.

The Buddha teaches on the five spiritual faculties regarding the life faculty, guiding mendicants in developing faith through wisdom on the path to liberation.

“Mendicants, there are these three faculties.
Katamāni tīṇi?
What three?
Itthindriyaṁ, purisindriyaṁ, jīvitindriyaṁ—
The faculties of femininity, masculinity, and life.
imāni kho, bhikkhave, tīṇi indriyānī”ti.
These are the three faculties.”
