The Buddha teaches and analyzes the noble eightfold path—right view, purpose, speech, action, livelihood, effort, mindfulness, and immersion—explaining each factor from ethics and renunciation through the four absorptions.

SN 45.29 Feeling

Sāvatthinidānaṁ.

“Tisso imā, bhikkhave, vedanā. Katamā tisso? Sukhā vedanā, dukkhā vedanā, adukkhamasukhā vedanā imā kho, bhikkhave, tisso vedanā.

Imāsaṁ kho, bhikkhave, tissannaṁ vedanānaṁ pariññāya ariyo aṭṭhaṅgiko maggo bhāvetabbo. Katamo ariyo aṭṭhaṅgiko maggo? Seyyathidaṁsammādiṭṭhi …pe… sammāsamādhi.

Imāsaṁ kho, bhikkhave, tissannaṁ vedanānaṁ pariññāya ariyo aṭṭhaṅgiko maggo bhāvetabbo”ti.

What three?

Sukhā vedanā, dukkhā vedanā, adukkhamasukhā vedanā

Pleasant, painful, and neutral feeling.

imā kho, bhikkhave, tisso vedanā.

These are the three feelings.

Imāsaṁ kho, bhikkhave, tissannaṁ vedanānaṁ pariññāya ariyo aṭṭhaṅgiko maggo bhāvetabbo.

The noble eightfold path should be developed to completely understand these three feelings.

What is the noble eightfold path?

Seyyathidaṁsammādiṭṭhi …pe… sammāsamādhi.

It is right view, right purpose, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right immersion.
