The "Connected Discourses with Phoenixes" contains teachings about supaṇṇas — magnificent bird-like beings — including the four modes of their reproduction and the kammic causes that lead to rebirth among them. These discourses examine how conduct in body, speech, and mind determines whether one is reborn among these exalted beings. Like the parallel collection on nāgas, this saṁyutta uses vivid cosmological imagery to illustrate the law of kamma.
