The "Connected Discourses on Arising" contains brief teachings on the arising and cessation of the six sense bases. Each discourse applies the same formula: the arising, continuation, and manifestation of the eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind is the arising of suffering, the continuation of disease, and the manifestation of old age and death; their cessation is the cessation of suffering. This collection complements the teachings on dependent co-arising by highlighting how the process of becoming unfolds through sensory experience.
