The Buddha teaches Venerable Rādha on the five aggregates regarding liable to suffering, guiding him toward insight, dispassion, and liberation.

SN 23.16 Liable to Suffering

Sāvatthinidānaṁ.

Ekamantaṁ nisinno kho āyasmā rādho bhagavantaṁ etadavoca:

“‘dukkhadhammo, dukkhadhammo’ti, bhante, vuccati. Katamo nu kho, bhante, dukkhadhammo”ti?

“Rūpaṁ kho, rādha, dukkhadhammo, vedanā dukkhadhammo, saññā dukkhadhammo, saṅkhārā dukkhadhammo, viññāṇaṁ dukkhadhammo.

Evaṁ passaṁ …pe… nāparaṁ itthattāyāti pajānātī”ti.

Seated to one side, Venerable Rādha said to the Buddha:

“‘dukkhadhammo, dukkhadhammo’ti, bhante, vuccati.

“Sir, they speak of having ‘suffering nature’.

Katamo nu kho, bhante, dukkhadhammo”ti?

What is of a nature to suffer?”

“Rūpaṁ kho, rādha, dukkhadhammo, vedanā dukkhadhammo, saññā dukkhadhammo, saṅkhārā dukkhadhammo, viññāṇaṁ dukkhadhammo.

“Rādha, form, feeling, perception, choices, and consciousness are of a nature to suffer.

Evaṁ passaṁ …pe…

Seeing this …

nāparaṁ itthattāyāti pajānātī”ti.

They understand: ‘… there is nothing further for this place.’”
