The Buddha teaches on gratification, applying the analysis of the five aggregates—form, feeling, perception, choices, and consciousness—to insight and release.

SN 22.73 Gratification

Sāvatthinidānaṁ.

“Assutavā, bhikkhave, puthujjano rūpassa assādañca ādīnavañca nissaraṇañca yathābhūtaṁ nappajānāti. Vedanāyasaññāyasaṅkhārānaṁviññāṇassa assādañca ādīnavañca nissaraṇañca yathābhūtaṁ nappajānāti. Sutavā ca kho, bhikkhave, ariyasāvako rūpassa assādañca ādīnavañca nissaraṇañca yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti. Vedanāyasaññāyasaṅkhārānaṁviññāṇassa assādañca ādīnavañca nissaraṇañca yathābhūtaṁ pajānātī”ti.
