Wanderer Moḷiyasīvakaperson

The Buddha contrasts ascetics and brahmins who fail to understand feelings—their origin, cessation, and the practice leading to cessation—with those who truly know and see them.

The wanderer Moḷiyasīvaka asks how the teaching is apparent in the present life, and the Buddha shows that one directly knows the presence and absence of one’s own greed, hate, and delusion and the thoughts they give rise to, and Sīvaka goes for refuge.
