The Buddha describes the eight ways in which a man binds a woman.

AN 8.18  Dutiyabandhana sutta - Bond (Second)

“Aṭṭhahi, bhikkhave, ākārehi puriso itthiṁ bandhati. Katamehi aṭṭhahi?

“Bhikkhus, a man binds a woman in eight ways. What eight?

Ruṇṇena, bhikkhave, puriso itthiṁ bandhati;
hasitena, bhikkhave, puriso itthiṁ bandhati;
bhaṇitena, bhikkhave, puriso itthiṁ bandhati;
ākappena, bhikkhave, puriso itthiṁ bandhati;
vanabhaṅgena, bhikkhave, puriso itthiṁ bandhati;
gandhena, bhikkhave, puriso itthiṁ bandhati;
rasena, bhikkhave, puriso itthiṁ bandhati;
phassena, bhikkhave, puriso itthiṁ bandhati.

1.) A man binds a woman with crying;
2.) A man binds a woman with |laughter::smile [hasita]|;
3.) A man binds a woman with |talk::speech [bhaṇita]|;
4.) A man binds a woman with |deportment::conduct, behavior [ākappa]|;
5.) A man binds a woman with a |gift::a present such as flowers or fruits, lit. broken off from the wood [vanabhaṅga]|;

8.) A man binds a woman with touch.

Imehi kho, bhikkhave, aṭṭhahākārehi puriso itthiṁ bandhati. Te, bhikkhave, sattā subaddhā, ye phassena baddhā”ti.

These, bhikkhus, are the eight ways in which a man binds a woman. And, bhikkhus, those beings who are bound by touch are thoroughly bound.”
